Summer Kick Off

We have scheduled our Summer Kick Off day for Wednesday, May 21^st. We have lots of fun things planned for the students. We want to invite parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. to participate in this fun day also. We have a parent/faculty versus students kickball game scheduled. We also need volunteers to help with the different activities that are planned. So come on out and enjoy this fun day with us.

NASCAR Speed Park Day

Our day at the Speed Park is planned for Friday, May 2nd for those students who raised $200.00 for our Walk-a-Thon. We will leave the school at 9:45 and return around 2:30. The school will cover the cost of all the rides. You will need to send money for your child to buy lunch with. Also, if your child wishes to play the video games, extra money will need to be sent to purchase tokens. Please have your child wear their navy NLCA t-shirt and jeans/shorts. If you are unsure about whether your child is eligible to go or not, please call Mrs. Henry and she can let you know.

Notes from Mr. McClung

Dear Parents and Friends of NLCA:

The end of the school year is fast approaching. Our Walk-a-Thon fund raiser was a great success with $7,300 coming in to date. Thank you for participating in this annual event. The school has ordered a Smart Board including projector and sound system. This complete system will be installed the end of May. Teachers will be given instruction in August on the use of the Smart Board for preparation of the 08-09 school year. All students who raised $200.00 or more will be rewarded for their efforts by receiving a day off from school and a day at NASCAR Speed Park on Friday, May 2^nd.

Please note an important date on your calendar. Tuesday, May 20^th, at 7:00 pm we will be presenting our End of Year Awards Program. This will include the K5 graduation (cap and gown) ceremony. Plan to attend as we honor our NLCA students for their year of learning and personal growth. We thank the Lord for His many blessings throughout this school year. We trust your child grew as Jesus did: “in wisdom and stature, in favor with God and men.” Luke 2:52

Our last day of school will be Friday, May 23^rd. Report cards will be mailed out the following week. Our hopes are to have the results from the Standardized Achievement Tests to send with the report cards. If not, they will be mailed separately as soon as we receive them. School will resume on September 2^nd for the 2008-2009 year. We are accepting enrollment applications for all grades, K5 – 9^th.

Teacher Appreciation Week

Don’t forget to send in your donation for Teacher Appreciation Week which is May 5^th – 9^th. We also need volunteers to help watch the classes while our teachers enjoy their special lunch together on Friday the 9^th. Please send your donation and/or volunteer sheet to my attention no later than Wednesday, April 30^th.

Standardized Testing

Standardized testing is scheduled for the week of April 14-18. We will be testing 3^rd – 8^th grade only. It is very important during this week that students are present and on time every day. The testing process will begin first thing each morning and students coming in late are a disruption to the testing procedure. Some things you can do at home to help your child during this week is make sure they get plenty of rest, eat healthy foods, and encourage them each day to do their best.
